Linoleum flooring is often a carpeting that is usually produced from renewable materials like solidified linseed oil, pine rosin, ground cork dust, wood flour, and mineral fillers including calcium carbonate.

As time passes, if you pick changing things up a bit by laying tile over your existing linoleum flooring, it is always far better to first remove the linoleum and as much glue that you can in the floor. Please note that linoleum is not a good substrate for tiles.
